Unsure what to take to Jordan? Concerned that being a Muslim country you might disrespect the local culture? Well Molly has put together a quick post for you to scan so that you can dress perfectly for coming to Jordan! It will cover going to all the sites and also the Dead Sea so it is worth reading on until the end.

Molly found this particularly challenging deciding what to take but after a holiday there it’s actually super easy and there is really no need to panic.

So the key tips i would recommend sticking to:

  • Long Trousers - light and breathable. Something you can walk in. I wore some Linen trousers from ASOS and they were great. Tom's Trunks were also great - check them out

  • Tops - Something to cover your shoulders. Here again i wore light and long sleeved garments mostly. Linens are the dream or a long t shirt or something equivalent. I got some Linen shirts from Marks and Spencer for cheap.

  • In Religious areas make sure you have a headscarf handy. I only had to wear one once in the whole 7 days but just to be safe.

  • Comfortable Hiking Shoes: Trainers are perfect for Petra. There isn't really a need for Hiking Boots but i would go lightweight and breathable if i did. I wore Hoka trainers for their ease and comfort.

  • The 'Desert Chill'. So the temperatures can really drop at night and its important to have something available. I used the jacket below from Uniqlo - it packs up small and is easy to stash away.

  • Bags. I would recommend having a cross body bag. It keeps all your stuff safe and on you and no one can really snatch it off you. Not that i felt unsafe anywhere but you can't be too sure.

  • Dead Sea & Swimwear. When within a resort complex like the Marriot, it's perfectly acceptable to wear a bikini or minimal clothing. The Dead Sea area provides a great opportunity to sunbathe, swim, and experience the benefits of the Dead Sea mud, known for its skin-nourishing properties. It's advisable to bring a bikini that you don't mind getting dirty with the mud during your skincare routine.

  • Shoes: While resort hotels typically offer beach shoes to shield your feet from the sharp salt crystals, having your inexpensive pair can be useful for freely exploring and swimming without concerns.
